WorkBC
Delivering the right content and stories to the right people.
WorkBC is a provincial platform that connects BC job seekers with employers while offering various tools and services to aid in career and personal planning.
Opportunity
As WorkBC expanded their digital presence, the website started to become increasingly disorganized. Research showed that users’ experience to be disconnected and cumbersome, as resources and information were hidden or buried deep in the site. The challenge was to re-envision WorkBC's brand through a website redesign. Ultimately, the goal was to engage users through a new and consistent user experience.

Responsibilities:
Low-fi wireframes & concepts
High fidelity designs & prototypes
Gather customer and business feedback
Collaborating with Engineers during implementation
Process
My role in this project spanned from creating rough wireframes to high-fidelity mocks. We also collaborated with the client iteratively to help them translate their business needs into user-focused designs. My work involved creating a responsive visual library of components and templates that allows WorkBC's website to scale in the future based on their business and users' needs. The library was built in Sketch, and we documented it through Zeplin to bridge the gap between design and development.
Our team also co-created a new information architecture to help users navigate content more easily. Users no longer have to go through various pages and endless scrolling to find the content they need. We've tailored the experience to be user-centric so that they can find resources and information fast and intuitively.
I also worked collaboratively with our development team during the implementation process to ensure the design is translated well into the actual website.
The new redesign included features such as a Job Board, Career Profiles, as well Regional Statistics.
The new WorkBC website was launched in 2015. The redesign drove an incredible impact that allowed users to find resources faster and easier. Metrics show a significant increase in visits and engagement, along with the number of registered job seekers.
